At Flying Start we ensure that children are able to learn and develop in a unique environment where there is always something new to learn! All state nurseries, private day nurseries and pre-schools deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We believe we have a purpose built state of the art pre-school where children can learn, develop and reach their full potential. We have large spacious outdoor play areas and offer free flow indoor/outdoor play.
We have large spacious outdoor play areas and offer free flow indoor/outdoor play. The outdoor environment is a rich, valuable and inspiring source of learning and development for our pre-school children which includes a sensory garden, secret fairy garden with bug hotel and vegetable garden.
We are well established and have an excellent reputation. We have close links with our sister nursery Coneygarth Farm Day Nursery and Pre-School and we take the children on visits where they can enjoy watching the cows and sheep as well as feeding the lambs and collecting eggs from the resident hens. They can also enjoy playing in the extensive secure outdoor area which has an outdoor classroom and an outdoor area housing our resident rabbits, guinea pigs and tortoises. During the year we also incubate and hatch chickens.
At Flying Start Day Nursery and Pre-School we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, to help achieve this we deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in a safe and stimulating environment. We hope to support the children in our care and help them reach their full potential.
The Early Year Foundation Stage will be covered throughout the nursery day, the curriculum is delivered through play and the planned activities will be suitable for the stage each child has reached. The children will be stretched but not pushed beyond their capabilities so they can continue to enjoy learning.
The planning will be a balance between adult-led and child-initiated activities.
Ongoing observational assessments are carried out to inform planning for each childs continuing development through play-based activities.
Children are encouraged to make choices and decisions about a range of activities they would like to be involved in throughout the day.
The aim of the EYFS is to help young children achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well being.
